Parasitas e parasitoses na literatura brasileira

Abstract

The authors present a set of quotations referring to parasites and human infection or infestation found in several books of Brazilian literature. The examples collected demonstrate the importance that parasites and parasitosis often had in the development of the country, and the way these questions are treated by authors from very different literary schools and purposes. The set of mentioned facts, both in terms of parasite diversity and the times and places in which they occurred, cut across places and time, proving that the subject is still topical, which is perfectly understandable given the complex interaction between parasites and hosts.
