Estágio Profissional: A Legitimação da Educação Física

Abstract

This document, entitled "The Legitimization of Physical Education", aims to provide as real and objective an account as possible of the experiences of a trainee student (the author of the document) in the context of students of the Master's Degree in Teaching Physical Education in Primary and Secondary Education at the Faculty of Sport of the University of Porto. The preservice took place at the Ermesinde Secondary School in the 2023/2024 school year and the intern was assigned two 10th grade classes, which due to the small number of students had PE classes together, and one class that he shared for 3 months with his colleague from the internship center. The whole process was supervised by the cooperating teacher and guided by the supervising teacher. The report covers the trainee's practical experience, including the assessment methods and methods he used in the various areas, as well as the difficulties encountered and the teaching strategies implemented. Finally, the document discusses the importance of Physical Education, its current challenges and the need to legitimize it by justifying it in the school curriculum.
