| Abstract: | The article analyses two short stories separated by a quarter of a century: La vendetta del cane, by Luigi Pirandello (first published in 1913) and A patativa, by the Brazilian Gastão Cruls, included in the volume História puxa história, released in1938. What is at stake in this analysis is the representation of the animal, the perception of the cruelty with which it is treated, but above all the way each story understands the meaning of the human. |
| Description: | O artigo analisa dois contos separados por um quarto de século: La vendetta del cane, de Luigi Pirandello (publicado pela primeira vez em 1913) e A patativa, do brasileiro Gastão Cruls, incluído no volume História puxa história, de 1938. Está em causa nesta análise a representação do animal, a perceção da crueldade com que ele é tratado, mas sobretudo o modo como cada um dos contos entende o significado do humano. |
