Abstract

The completion of this School Placement Report stems from the need to analyze the practical experiences acquired and the professional competencies for teaching developed during the Professional School Placement. It was at a school located in the city of Porto, more specifically in Paranhos, that I was placed along with three other preservice teachers, under the supervision of a Cooperating Teacher and a Supervising Teacher. This document is composed of seven chapters and narrates the journey of an exciting experience that, like any other, presented obstacles overcome and challenges resolved (with others yet to be overcome), which required inevitable adaptation, extensive learning, and the confirmation that I am where I believe I belong. I humbly adopted a posture of total openness to everything I could learn, with the sole certainty of the initial and final purpose of trying to be the physical education teacher I would have liked to have had as a student. The narrative presented in this report is based on the premise that the experience of professional development is all the more relevant the more I try to put myself in the shoes of others. I aim to convey the idea of the responsibility to encourage students to have a positive impact on society. This report begins with a personal framework, explaining the factors that led to the decision to pursue this profession and referencing all the responsible parties and participants of an internship whose memories I will retain for life: the cooperating school, the cooperating and supervising teachers, the internship group, and its students. Throughout the chapters, the operationalization of the theoretical basis was presented, explaining the roles of physical education, the teacher, and the student in the school context, the methods and teaching strategies applied, and the importance of the teacher-student relationship. In this context, a scientific study was conducted on the influence of the tactical approach on students' game performance, and finally, the chapter "Conclusions and Future Perspectives" was presented, discussing the crucial and extremely significant contribution of this experience to my training and future possibilities.
