Abstract

The rapid technological evolution that has characterized recent times and particularly the accelerated development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) that we have witnessed recently, marked by the emergence of new versions of ChatGPT, increasingly sophisticated and efficient, necessarily imply that we make a reflection on the future of Information Science and the academic training that universities are providing in this subject area. The future, which is already present, demands from us a critical, intervening and socially responsible attitude to respond to the challenges that arise in the different contexts where the information professionals we are training work.
