Abstract

Reflection enhances the construction of the project as the main element of study, and all the other elements, written and drawn, complement it. The dissertation is divided into three parts, as suggested by its three chapters - II Memory and Shelter, III Landscape and Models and IV Shelter in Santo Estevão, The Idea that is Built. The original moment presents the first memories of a personal and naive architecture, an architecture that exists in the subconscious, that is found by memory and that is ultimately cared for. This first moment also explores the ancestral notions of the idea of shelter and how it became architecture's original condition- drawing on man's need to protect himself in order to live. Supported by the historical context - this is based on the ideas revealed by some theorists and architects who have dedicated themselves to this dwelling theme. The second moment consists of an investigation translated into models and reference cases which make it possible to relate the place, the landscape and the construction of a minimal space - works that have different characteristics, both in terms of their location and their construction method. The third moment is intended to be the concretization. The construction of a shelter in Santo Estevão, simple and essential - a volume that re-centres us, a free place, one of rest, study and play.
