Abstract

This report is part of the curricular unit of the school placement integrated in the study plan of the 2nd Cycle, leading to the attainment of the Master's degree in Physical Education Teaching in Primary and Secondary Education. The school placement is a crucial stage for the pre-service teachers, since it represents the first contact with the educational reality and all its demands, giving students the opportunity to put into practice all the theory acquired during their academic training. This report reflects the culmination of all the experiences lived during the school placement of a pre-service teacher (the author), giving it, thus, a personal, reflective and unique character. This took place in a school located in Porto, part of a practicum group composed by three elements, under the guidance of a supervisor from the Faculty and a Cooperating Teacher, from the school. My pedagogical intervention focused mainly on the 7th grade (resident class), having also had the opportunity to teach other school years such as 5th and 1st grades. This school year was a process of personal construction and reconstruction, as a student, person and future teacher. Thus, I can say that the three major lessons learned after the school placement are based on the strategies used in class to increase productivity, the appreciation of the student as an active being in his own teaching-learning process, and the indispensable ability to adapt and readapt. The research study aimed to analyze the routines, interests and opinions of students regarding the physical activity spaces available at school, which will serve as a basis, in the future, for the implementation of an Active School project. In short, the report is configured as the motto for the construction of teaching identity, full of constructions and self-reconstructions, were it not for a teacher being made of the same.
