Intervir no Existente: Reabilitação de uma Casa de Lavoura em Pedra Furada

Abstract

The rehabilitation of vernacular heritage, increasingly prominent in the work of architects, aims at the reuse of traditional constructions, which play a significant role in the cultural identity of local communities. This work addresses the importance of preserving vernacular heritage as a living testimony to history and traditions. The research consists of seeking best practices and approaches for the rehabilitation of this type of heritage, with a focus on the study-case. It is essential to understand the type of heritage with which we are dealing. In this case, the morphotype under consideration is the Casa de Lavoura of Minho, a concept that contains important and essential characteristics for defining houses of this genre. In this work, these characteristics will be referred as indicators of authenticity and identity. The rehabilitation of vernacular heritage not only contributes to the preservation of cultural heritage but also to a deeper understanding of the specific features of vernacular heritage.
