| Abstract: | This article seeks to draw attention to the growing appreciation of the profile of the preacher "embodied" by various religious in Portugal in post-Trent times. Starting from the analysis of texts that fall within the vein of hagiography or sacred biography, the importance of preaching is underlined, developed within the scope of the strategies of catechizing and disciplining behavior promoted by the Catholic Church, as well as the ways in which it contributes for the crystallization of a famasanctitatis of these "men illustrious in virtue". |
| Description: | Este artigo procura chamar a atenção para a crescente valorização do perfil do pregador "corporizado" por vários religiosos, em Portugal, nos tempos pós-Trento. Partindo da análise de textos que se inscrevem no filão da hagiografia ou da biografia devota, sublinha-se a importância da pregação, desenvolvida no âmbito das estratégias de catequização e de disciplinamento de comportamentos promovidas pela Igreja Católica, assim como os moldes em que esta contribui para a cristalização de uma fama sanctitatis destes «varões ilustres em virtude». |
