Arquitetura e pré-fabricação: De um sistema experimental a uma alternativa sustentável

Abstract

The dissertation theme arose from my interest in prefabricated architecture, a constructive system that, during my academic career, has only been lightly addressed in recent years. Its association with sustainability, such an important subject today, creates a challenging topic that I seek to respond to through this research. Therefore, firstly, this dissertation aims to frame historically the prefabrication, taking into account the experience of both modern and contemporary architects. Next, we seek to demystify some preconceived ideas that may compromise the choice of a prefabricated system, showing that this can be an alternative to a more sustainable architecture. Furthermore, finally, it is important to know the prefabricated architecture existing in Portugal, to try to understand if this can be adapted to our reality, studying the offer and case studies at a national level.
