| Title: | Política de informação para os arquivos em Portugal: lições do passado e reflexões para o futuro |

| Abstract: | After a historical review of the information policy for archives in Portugal, in the period between the creation of the General Inspection of Public Libraries and Archives (1887) and the approval of the law that established the «General regime of archives and archival heritage» (1993), this legal document is analyzed as well as the measures taken by the public authorities regarding the management of state archive services and the information produced by the public administration in the last thirty years. The article concludes with a reflection on the problematics of public archives, stating general lines of what we consider fundamental in terms of information policy for Portuguese archives in the digital age in which we live. |
| Description: | Após uma resenha histórica sobre a política de informação para os arquivos em Portugal, no período que medeia entre a criação da Inspeção Geral das Bibliotecas e Arquivos Públicos (1887) e a promulgação do diploma que estabeleceu o «Regime geral dos arquivos e do património arquivístico» (1993), analisa-se este documento legal e as medidas tomadas pelos poderes públicos no que concerne à gestão dos serviços de arquivo estatais e à informação produzida pela administração pública nos últimos trinta anos. Conclui-se com uma reflexão sobre a problemática dos arquivos públicos, enunciando-se linhas gerais daquilo que consideramos fundamental em termos de política de informação para os arquivos portugueses na era digital em que vivemos. |
