| Title: | A indústria lítica da Zona Industrial de Bouro (Gandra, Esposende, NW de Portugal) : contributo para o estudo do Acheulense do Minho Litoral |

| Abstract: | The archaeological monitoring carried out during the construction of an industrial pavilion, in Bouro, Esposende (NW Portugal), allowed the collection of over two hundred knapped stone artefacts made from quartzite pebbles. The most significant assemblage, with tools belonging to the Acheulean technocomplex (handaxes and unifaces), is associated with a marine terrace at 15-20 m a.s.l.. Considering OSL dating obtained in northernmost terraces, located between the mouth of the Neiva River and the mouth of the Minho River, it is possible to suggest a provisional age for this artefactual assemblage, which may be correlated to MIS 11 (ca. 400 ka). Another numerically less significant set, that includes lithic "net weights", and which is related to the surface of the marine deposit, being therefore subsequent to its formation, may be Holocene in age. |
| Description: | O acompanhamento arqueológico realizado no âmbito da construção de um pavilhão industrial, no lugar de Bouro, Esposende (NW de Portugal), permitiu a recolha de mais de duas centenas de artefactos líticos talhados, produzidos a partir de seixos rolados de quartzito. O conjunto mais significativo, com utensílios que remetem para o tecno-complexo Acheulense (bifaces e unifaces), associa-se a um terraço marinho implantado a 15-20 m n.m.m. Tendo como referência datações por OSL obtidas em terraços marinhos localizados mais a norte, entre a foz do rio Neiva e a foz do rio Minho, é possível avançar uma idade provisória para este conjunto artefactual, que poderá coincidir com o MIS 11 (ca. 400 ka). Um outro conjunto numericamente menos expressivo, que inclui "pesos de rede" e que surge na superfície do depósito marinho, sendo, portanto, posterior à sua formação, terá uma cronologia holocénica. |
