Abstract

Architecture involves a complex correlation of several intervening entities and various procedures for its completion. Although the architect is responsible for the architectural project, the shapes and spaces that he organizes are not freely conceived, but rather come about as a result of a balance between his wills and a set of circumstances that arise throughout the process. Therefore, this dissertation seeks an approach to those involved, focusing on three multifamily housing projects of the same client and the same architect, which are developed in the same city council and in the same geographical context, the south side of the Douro River. Through this analysis, it will be possible to develop a set of considerations about the several subjects that, despite establishing the same interaction, contribute to the creation of the different architectural solutions. In this way, this research addresses the intervening parties for a greater knowledge about the action of the architect in the practice of his profession.
