1951 e 1953: Duas exposições de Arquitetura no Porto

Abstract

This study attempts to frame two Architecture Exhibitions held in Porto, the first in 1951, promoted by the group ODAM (1947-1952) and the second in 1953, by the ESBAP, in tribute to the architect José Marques da Silva (1869-1947). It was assumed, as an aggregator, the ESBAP, and as key characters, José Marques da Silva and Carlos Ramos (1897-1969), whose affinity is justified by the educational activity at the school and the consequent responsibility they had in the formation of architects in the first half of the twentieth century. The main objective is to make a recognition of the events, gather and systemize the information creating a body of knowledge that allows its recognition. Alongside, the exposure and confrontation of the two events intents to clarify its objectives in its context, to recognize its the actors, explaining the circumstances of their formation and work, and contextualizing some cultural events held in Porto during the time studied never subjected to a comparative analysis.
