O Espaço como máquina: análise configuracional da FEUP

Abstract

This work aims to be a continuation of the final work on architecture degree in architecture, where we studied the theme: "New Urban Concepts in Portugal: Viseu Polis program." At this stage we advance towards an assessment of the impact of the program especially in the studied case of Rio Pavia Linear Park, already completed. Considering that this work should not be conditioned by knowledge of its predecessor, we will structure this paper as follows: A first approach, very briefly, about the Urban Renewal Program and Environmental Improvement Program (Polis), its form and methodology of intervention, the management system, its legal and financial rules. Although this chapter we focuses its intervention in the city of Viseu exposing its objectives, performances and contributions to urban design. At this point we delimited and detailed the involved plans that made up the strategic plan, lays out this intensions and analyze the works already carried out over the territory. Very succinctly explained the creation and operation of the management company and title refer to parallel measures of curiosity that converged in the materialization of the plans. In a second part we identified our study area Linear River Park and surrounding areas when we describe and explain the projects involved and its implementation, as well as the interrelationship between the various elements that compose it. We study also the relation between the area and its natural elements with the urban context, their relationships (past and present) with the city. After this we have the conditions for a final chapter where we analyze critically the intervention considering the opinions of a valid public organized by sectors and different age groups. Finally we perform a review of intervention where established: a summary table of actions of the Polis Programme (carried out by performing and partially completed), two frames of analysis exclusively on the case of Pavia River Linear Park, the first with an analytical identifying the "strengths" and "weak spots" on the second "opportunity" and "threats" to this intervention. Throughout this study took into consideration the fact that this action reflect on a new urban reality founded with the creation of quality of life through the Rehabilitation and Enhancement of the existing natural elements.
