| Abstract: | This work concerns a 15th century noble house and the corresponding insertion space in the village of Meadela, Viana do Castelo. Being in an advanced state of ruin and eminent disappearance, and given that the farm was de'characterised by the access roads to A27/28, we have tried, fi rstly, to register such, through a survey (topografi cal and of the building). Through the collection and production of photographies, of written and oral documents, comparison with similar buildings, and the survey itself, we have tried to reconstruct its constructive evolution and its infl uences, as well as to refl ect on its short term future. Hence we have divided this work in two parts. The fi rst, "I | ... de 1136 aos dias de hoje", deals with the historical part relative to the building and the corresponding farm, and is itself divided in two parts: 1 | O Território and I2 | O Edifício. The fi rst part is a kind of compilation and systematisation of the information found on the estate house and its lands (Couto, Morgadio and Farm), as well as the events and informations which interfere, directly or indirectly, with its formation and development. The second part concerns only the building and attempts, through similar examples and their various infl uences, to establish a chronology to enlighten us on its development until 1986, the year when it ceased to be inhabited; from such date on, a similar assessment of the degradation and the situation up to the present is made, setting up the stage for the second part of this work. The second part "II | De hoje em diante...", is an analysis and refl ection on the potential of the farm and the estate house of Paredes, but also of the constraints that we will fi nd in the farm and its surroundings, in view of a local intervention. Thus, the last chapter will be our own proposal. Such proposal does not aim to defi ne rigorously what should be executed on site, but instead to alert and suggest, so that there is in fact a clear perception that the heritage of the village is disappearing, when it could be re-used, not only symbolically, as the icon which it is today, but in fact, contributing actively to the development and upbringing of future generations, and to the territorial restructuring that Meadela urgently needs. Finally, in "Considerações fi nais [Não deixem (as) Paredes cair...]" a synthetic conclusion was elaborated, which aims at addressing the objectives which were initially set for the elaboration of this dissertation. |
| Description: | O presente trabalho trata de uma habitação nobre do século XV e respectivo espaço de inserção, situados na freguesia da Meadela, em Viana do Castelo. Encontrando-se numa situação de avançado estado de ruína e eminente desaparecimento, e tendo a quinta sido dividida e descaracterizada pelos acessos da A27/28, tentamos, em primeiro lugar, registá-lo através de levantamento (topográfi co e do edifício). Através da recolha de fotografi as, documentos escritos e orais, comparação com edifi cações semelhantes, e do próprio levantamento, tentamos reconstituir a sua evolução construtiva e suas infl uências, bem como refl ectir acerca do seu futuro a curto prazo. Dividimos assim o trabalho em duas partes. A primeira, "I | ... de 1136 aos dias de hoje", trata da parte histórica relativa ao edifício e respectiva quinta, e divide-se por sua vez em outras duas partes: I1 | O Território e I2 | O Edifício. A primeira é uma espécie de compilação e sistematização de toda a informação encontrada acerca do paço e seus terrenos (couto, morgadio e quinta), bem como de acontecimentos e informações que interferem, de modo directo ou indirecto, com a sua formação e desenvolvimento. A segunda prende-se apenas com o edifício e tenta, através de exemplos similares e das suas variadas infl uências, estabelecer uma cronologia que nos possa elucidar acerca do seu desenvolvimento até 1986, ano em que deixou de ser habitada; a partir desta data é igualmente feito um balanço da degradação e situação em que hoje se encontra, lançando o mote para a parte seguinte do trabalho. A segunda parte, "II | De hoje em diante...", é uma análise e refl exão das potencialidades da quinta e do paço de Paredes, mas também das condicionantes que nela e na sua envolvente iremos encontrar, com vista a uma intervenção neste local. O último capítulo será, por isso, uma proposta nossa. Proposta essa que não pretende defi nir rigorosamente o que ali deveria ser realizado, mas antes lança um alerta e uma sugestão, para que haja efectivamente uma clara percepção de que o património da freguesia se está a perder, quando poderia ser reaproveitado, não só simbolicamente, como o ícone que ainda hoje é, mas efectivamente, contribuindo activamente para o desenvolvimento e formação das gerações futuras, e para uma reestruturação territorial de que a Meadela urgentemente necessita. Por fi m, nas "Considerações fi nais [Não deixem (as) Paredes cair...]", foi elaborada uma síntese conclusiva, que pretende responder aos objectivos que inicialmente se traçaram para a elaboração desta dissertação. |
