| Abstract: | From the Besieged Sites, as a metaphor for the place occupied and invaded when representing itself as a symbolic, cultural space, of the constitution of the subject- -woman; the motivations of this dissertation are translated, which intends to reflect the places of the body, the everyday life and domesticity through a feminist critique. It seeks to explore the architectural discourses of an almost unilateral and western vision of history, with the intention of orienting other alternatives. The methodology adopted is based on a study that starts from the historical ground of feminism by purposely establishing a conflict with architecture, exploring the patterns and spaces of communication between women, from living to occupation. In invoking the humanist practice of architecture through the point of view of women, it is noted that their environment is largely a consequence of political and economic actions, both in a repressive and liberating sense. The dissertation supports what is defined as a feminist critique of architecture, covering three spheres that are intrinsically linked to the materiality of women's life and space: the body as a sociocultural artifact indispensable to the conception of space and architecture; everyday life as a tool for the analysis of patterns, experiences and occupations of space; domesticity, as the place socially assigned to women, from the house to the related ideologies. These three spheres sustain a strong theoretical component, which takes from architectural practice, elements for a feminist critique, and therefore, to the reflection and valorization of it. It is therefore necessary to mention that these themes have as their main object the woman as subject and not as 'the other', a concept to which symbolism and spatial contiguity has denied the places of women, situated and besieged in their cultural and historical space of socio-economic despoliation. | Description: | Dos Sítios Sitiados, como metáfora para o lugar ocupado e invadido ao se representar como espaço simbólico, cultural, da constituição do sujeito-mulher; traduz-se as motivações da presente dissertação, que pretende reflectir os lugares do corpo, do quotidiano e da domesticidade através de uma crítica feminista. Procura-se explorar os discursos arquitectónicos de uma visão quase unilateral e ocidental da história, com a intenção de orientar outras alternativas. A metodologia adoptada baseia-se num estudo que parte do chão histórico do feminismo ao estabelecer, propositadamente, um conflito com a arquitectura, explorando os padrões e espaços de comunicação entre mulheres, da vivência à ocupação. Ao convocar a práctica humanista da arquitectura através do ponto de vista das mulheres, repara-se que o seu ambiente são em grande medida uma consequência de acções políticas e económicas, tanto num sentido repressivo como libertador. A dissertação sustém o que se define como uma crítica feminista da arquitectura, percorrendo três esferas que estão intrinsecamente ligadas à materialidade da vida e do espaço da mulher: o corpo como artefacto sociocultural indispensável para a concepção do espaço e da arquitectura; o quotidiano como ferramenta de análise dos padrões, vivências e ocupações do espaço; a domesticidade, como o lugar socialmente atribuído à mulher, da casa às ideologias associadas. Estas três esferas sustentam uma forte componente teórica, que retira à prática arquitectónica, elementos para uma crítica feminista, e por isso, à reflexão e valorização da mesma. Seja por isso, necessário referir que estes temas têm como principal objecto a mulher como sujeito e não como 'o outro', conceito ao qual o simbolismo e contiguidade espacial negou os lugares das mulheres, situadas e sitiadas no seu espaço cultural e histórico de espoliação socioeconómica. Sugerem-se alguns espaços, de projectos a comunicações artísticas, literárias e políticas que possam ser representativos de práticas consideradas feministas, quando colocada a possibilidade de uma "arquitectura feminina". |
