Hyperbaric medicine has a large field of applicability and is increasingly used as a therapeutic resource. Its field of action is not limited to treat decompression sickness, but was enlarged to all the diseases in which an increase in the amount of dissolved oxygen in the blood has beneficial effects. With this extension has emerged a new class of professionals, theattendants, accompanyingthe sick people within the hyperbaric chamber, which are now, they own, object of study. This work attempts to give an image of decompression sickness, in particular in attendantsand identify the research developed to describe the effect of O2 in decompressive phase. A systematic review was made in several databases. Although in decompressive phase the use of O2be standard practice, in the research carried out were not found conclusive studies about their advantages. It follows the need for further research and development work, methodologically consistent, in order to answer the questions and solve the problems.
