| Abstract: | The research aimed to analyse the regional economy of Portugal to reveal the economic specialization and diversification in its regions and the productive capacities in each territory. The theoretical-methodological framework that supported the study stems from the related variety approach that highlights the relevance of the interaction between different economic activities (transactions, exchanges of information, etc.) for territorial development. The results show an economic structure with greater possibilities for development in the central and northern regions of the country, taking advantage of the interaction with existing activities |
| Description: | A investigação teve por objetivo analisar a economia regional de Portugal de modo a revelar a especialização e a diversificação económicas em suas regiões e, com isso, as capacidades produtivas em cada território. O quadro teórico-metodológico que fundamentou o estudo origina-se da abordagem da variedade relacionada que destaca a relevância da interação entre diferentes atividades económicas (transações, trocas de informações, etc.) para o desenvolvimento territorial. Os resultados mostram uma estrutura económica com maiores possibilidades de desenvolvimento nas regiões centro e norte do país a partir do aproveitamento da interação com as atividades já existentes. |
