Supra-Arquitetura: Influências da Inteligência Artificial na Arquitetura

Abstract

This Master's Thesis presents an investigation and reflection on the topic of Artificial Intelligence in Architecture. Firstly, an introduction is given to Artificial Intelligence (AI), starting by going into its terms relative to the area of Computational Science, continuing with the understanding of the common applications of AI in everyday life and, finally, it is presented the paths towards which current research and inventions seem to be headed. Secondly, AI in Architecture is discussed, starting by referring to the antecedents that have contributed to the integration of the technology in the profession, moving on to an understanding of how Architecture Theory can be influenced by the rapid development and integration of this technology, ending with the presentation of examples of practical work and research in the professional context. Finally, the last chapter reflects on the concerns regarding the subject, in which it sets three questions around the themes of architecture, work and the architect. These guided the work and are developed in short reflective essays, in an attempt to understand the condition of the architect and architecture in an increasingly technological context. With this dissertation, it is intended to create an understanding of technology, particularly artificial intelligence, and to contribute to the deepening of knowledge on the subject.
