Em nome da (in)felicidade: como saberes da língua portuguesa comparecem em materiais didáticos para surdos na década de 1950

Abstract

Thearticle aims to analyze three pieces of didactic materials to teach Portuguese to the deaf produced by Ana Rímoli Dória, in the 1950s. In the analysis of the excerpts of the three books, a relationship was gradually built up, namely, deaf subjects' happiness linked to their oralization. Considered "naturally" unhappy subject, he/she should have access to a specific knowledge of Portuguese, an oral auditory modality language and, therefore, a language whose materiality would escape the deaf subjects' apprehension. Other alleged forms of learning that language have been organized and formalized under the auspices of the sound knowledge of that language. Our analyses, linked to the articulation between History of Linguistic Ideas and Materialist Discourse Analysis, sought to understand the ways in which this relationship between happiness and oralization was produced
