| Title: | Da ciência social à ciência social cidadã: contributos para a problematização de um conceito |

| Abstract: | Considering the growing relevance of citizen science, this article wishes to contribute to the clarification of the concept, while exploring the contributions this approach brings to the development of research strategies and methodologies in the scientific field in general, and in the social sciences in particular. On the one hand, a broad understanding of citizen science is proposed, as an approach that can be mobilized in multiple areas and with different purposes; on the other hand, a perspective of citizen science as an approach that can be put forward with several different "degrees of intensity" is presented. While following the protocols and the criteria of scientificity and rigor that are intrinsic to scientific research, and without disregarding the independence and autonomy of the academic field, citizen science emphasizes the different ways through which science can dialogue with society, opening possibilities for the configuration of the field of social sciences as an area of knowledge and practice that is not limited to being socially relevant in the choices it makes regarding its objects of study, its objectives and its results, but which is also actively participated by citizens in all of processes it comprises and develops. |
| Description: | Num contexto de afirmação crescente da ciência cidadã (CC), procura-se neste artigo contribuir para a clarificação do conceito, discutindo ainda os principais contributos desta abordagem para o desenvolvimento das estratégias e metodologias de investigação no campo científico em geral, e nas ciências sociais em particular. Propõe-se, por um lado, um entendimento amplo de CC, enquanto abordagem passível de mobilização em múltiplos âmbitos e com diferentes finalidades, e, por outro lado, uma consideração não estrita acerca dos "graus de intensidade" que a materialização da CC pode observar. Sem que deixem de ser seguidos os protocolos e os critérios de cientificidade e rigor característicos da investigação científica, e sem desconsiderar a independência e autonomia do campo académico, a CC enfatiza as diferentes formas como a ciência pode dialogar com a sociedade, abrindo possibilidades à configuração do campo das ciências sociais enquanto área de conhecimento e prática que não se limita a ser socialmente relevante nas escolhas que faz quanto aos seus objetos de estudo, objetivos e resultados, mas que é também ativamente participada pelos cidadãos no conjunto dos processos que supõe e desenvolve. |
