Dinâmicas expositivas e pedagógicas - imagens que se movem: devoções e práticas culturais na Catedral do Porto

Abstract

This article uncovers the process of the development of the project "Moving images: devotions and cultural practices in Porto Cathedral", developed in the context of the Master Degree of History of Art, Heritage and Visual Culture, of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of University of Porto, in the 2017-2018 school year. Starting from the premise that sacred spaces are living realities in constant mutation, the project focused in the mobility of images, subjected to the transformations of the urban space, of liturgy and of architecture. The cathedral was seen as a centripetal and centrifugal reality of devotions that marked the history of Porto, studying the route of some city's images into the cathedral and from there into the city. The investigation, developed by the 1styear students of the master's degree, ended in the organization of a physical exhibition, partly still on display inside the church, and the design of a virtual exhibition, accessible through the Google Arts and Culture platform
