| Title: | Emprego, mercado de trabalho e precariedade: o difícil percurso dos jovens em Portugal |

| Abstract: | Work today occupies a central dimension in the lives of individuals, being the place of personal fulfillment, construction and maintenance of identities and guarantor of subsistence conditions. However, the effects of the 2008 crisis and the troika's consequent intervention have joined the spread of neoliberal policies and the easing of the labour market. Thus, even if these transformations feel a generalization of precariousization, young people emerge as the most affected. The paths of entry and circulation in the labor market are translated into multiple and heterogeneous trajectories, marked mainly by atypical forms of work. In this sense, the figures from the Inequalities Observatory make it possible to see how young people are affected by temporary contracts, partial employment, unemployment and under-use of employment. Here, it is possible to reflect on the effects that this new health crisis may bring, aggravating this trend. |
| Description: | O trabalho ocupa, hoje, uma dimensão central na vida dos indivíduos, sendo lugar de realização pessoal, de construção e manutenção de identidades e de garante das condições de subsistência. Contudo, os efeitos da crise de 2008 e a consequente intervenção da Troika uniram-se à difusão de políticas neoliberais e à flexibilização do mercado de trabalho. Assim, ainda que estas transformações se façam sentir numa generalização da precarização, os jovens surgem como os mais afetados. Os percursos de entrada e circulação no mercado de trabalho traduzem-se em múltiplas e heterogéneas trajetórias, marcadas, principalmente, por formas atípicas de trabalho. Neste sentido, os dados do observatório das desigualdades permitem perceber como os jovens são afetados pelos contratos temporários, pelo emprego parcial, o desemprego e a subutilização do emprego. Aqui, é possível refletir sobre os efeitos que esta nova crise de saúde COVID-19 poderá trazer, agravando estas tendências. |
