Atlas do Espaço Individual: experiências e realizações

Abstract

The Atlas of Individual Space: experiences and materializations constitutes old concerns and recent provocations regarding the space that is designed around each one of us. Recent pandemic events seem to have highlighted issues related to their nature. These are addressed and then answered, thus serving as a stimulus for the present investigation. Through a historical and multidisciplinary journey guided by fifteen essays that function as a dialogue in the face of the questions raised and that are supported by the bibliographic compilation in the iconographic collection evocative of materializations of the individual space. Thus, a representative and textual is developed around the space that dresses, covers, harbors, involves, shelters and accompanies the individual. Despite constituting a fundamental theme for the theory and practice of the discipline of architecture, its definition seems to be mentioned only occasionally, with no representative reading of what characterizes this space. In this way, the present dissertation dedicates its effort to collect several formalizations, performed and not performed, capable of demonstrating the plurality of modes, shapes and dimensions in order to contribute to a reading of a space as ancestral as human existence itself
