| Abstract: | The history of this dissertation is a pretext to express a personal means of understanding the rural world and its architecture and, fundamentally, a means of practicing it. This work aims to be an investigation, critical sense of knowledge, a survey, a writing, a drawing operation and finally, a synthesis and a project. This dissertation starts from an analysis of the place of Teixedo, located in the valley of the Azibo river, in the Cold Land of the northeast Transmontano (Terra Fria do Nordeste Transmontano), inserted in a landscape built by the human being that was posteriorly abandoned in the beginning of the 19th century. Nowadays it is in a state of degradation and its due study remains to be carried out. Revealing a rural architecture of regional character, these built structures are part of this place and function as an agricultural device which is practically extinct these days. In this increasingly wasteland, marked by rural exodus, there are still strong links to the memories of the land and essentially, to agricultural memories. The perpetuation of the imaginary of this rural space by the inhabitants, motivated us to register this place. For this, we use an extensive and exhaustive method of investigation, which covers the entire process of detailed and rigorous survey of the place of Teixedo. In light of the constructions and rituals of this place, there is a need to rethink these remaining structures, understanding their operation and their original configurations, in order to enhance their preservation and to promote the need of recovery and protection of rural heritage. Simultaneously, trying to adapt their structures to new needs, redefining and emphasizing its cultural, historical, natural and architectural features. Therefore, the proposal is positioned as a strategic project, through the global thinking of the rural space and the recognition of its evolution over time, thus enhancing the territorial influence outside the intervention area. |
| Description: | A história da presente dissertação é pretexto para manifestar um modo pessoal de entender o mundo rural e a sua arquitetura e, fundamentalmente, um modo de a praticar. Este trabalho quer ser investigação, sentido crítico de conhecimento, levantamento, escrita, desenho, síntese e projeto. Esta dissertação parte de uma análise do lugar de Teixedo, situado no vale do rio Azibo, na Terra Fria do Nordeste Transmontano, inserida numa paisagem construída pelo Homem, que ficou abandonado nos inícios do século XIX. Encontra-se, hoje, em estado de degradação e permanece por concretizar o seu devido estudo. Revelador de uma arquitetura rural de carácter regional, estas estruturas edificadas fazem parte deste lugar e funcionam como engenho agrícola, hoje quase extinto. Neste território interior cada vez mais desertificado, marcado pelo êxodo rural, subsistem, ainda, fortes ligações às memórias da terra e, essencialmente, às memórias agrícolas. A perpetuação do imaginário deste espaço rural, por parte dos habitantes, motivou-nos para proceder ao registo deste lugar. Para isso, utilizamos um extenso e exaustivo método de investigação, que abrange todo um processo de levantamento detalhado e rigoroso do lugar de Teixedo. À luz das construções e rituais deste local surge a necessidade de repensar estas estruturas remanescentes, compreendendo o seu funcionamento e suas configurações originais, de modo a potenciar a sua preservação na busca de promover a relevância da recuperação e proteção do património rural. Simultaneamente, tenta-se adaptar as suas estruturas às novas necessidades, redefinindo e enfatizando as suas características culturais, históricas, naturais e arquitetónicas. Assim, a proposta posiciona-se como projeto estratégico, através do pensamento global do espaço rural e do reconhecimento da sua evolução ao longo do tempo potenciando, assim, a influência territorial fora da área de intervenção. |
