| Abstract: | The present work exhibits an investigation regarding the valorisation of a church, a building asleep, in light of the current needs of the parish it serves. A narrative that accompanies the course of a building, from a first draft, to the present moment, exploring a possible future whilst engaging on a project. Beyond the case study, which demands a practical response to a concrete problem, the exercise provides a wider reflection encompassing themes that describe a complex reality, external to the walls of this church - being it the rehabilitation of a recently-arrived modern heritage, the necessary focus on an economy of means during a crisis period, or the search for what may be today, a centre for the life of a Christian community. |
| Description: | Constitui o presente trabalho, a exposição de uma investigação a respeito da valorização de uma igreja, um edifício adormecido, à luz das necessidades actuais da paróquia que serve. Uma narrativa que acompanha o percurso de um edifício, do primeiro esboço, ao momento presente, explorando um possível futuro através do projecto. Para lá do caso prático que se trata, que exige uma resposta a um problema real, o exercício proporciona uma reflexão mais abrangente, em torno dos temas que descrevem uma realidade complexa, exterior aos muros desta igreja - seja a respeito da reabilitação de uma herança moderna recém-chegada, da necessária atenção a uma economia de meios em tempos de crise, ou da procura por o que possa ser hoje, um centro para a vida de uma comunidade cristã. |
