Abstract

We propose a fictional reading of the contemporary French socio-political context from the analysis of the prospective novel Jamais de guerre civile le mardi by Yves Bourdillon (2020). It will be a question of reviewing the components of a national malaise caused by the identity upheavals that France has been experiencing for forty years and which leaves the threat of a fantasy or real conflict, but whose hypothesis is pervasive in the public and media debate.
