| Abstract: | The municipal governance of Braga at the beginning of the 16th century was applied by the "homens-bons" of the city, in a close connection with the archbishop, lord of the city, and in connection with the king, lord of the kingdom.The relation between these powers will be analysed from the perspective of the oldest city council books of Braga, which date from the beginning of the 16th century, more specifically from 1509 to 1519. These books register the sessions of the town's council, but also royal and archepiscopal diplomas, property titles, price schedules, regiments of crafts, among others, which translate this relationship between powers |
| Description: | A governação concelhia de Braga nos inícios do século XVI era exercida pelos homens-bons da cidade, numa estreita ligação ao arcebispo, senhor da cidade, e em conexão com o rei, senhor do reino. A articulação entre estes poderes será analisada na perspetiva dos mais antigos livros de vereação da câmara de Braga, até agora conhecidos, e que datam de inícios do século XVI, mais concretamente de 1509 a 1519. Aí foram registadas não apenas as atas das sessões camarárias, mas também alvarás e diplomas régios e arquiepiscopais, títulos de propriedades, tabelamentos de preços, regimentos de mesteres, entre outros, que traduzem bem essa relação entre poderes. |
