Carla Juaçaba, Força e sutilezas da matéria

Abstract

The present dissertation aims to investigate the work of the Brazilian architect Carla Juaçaba (1976), proposing to identify recurrent themes in her production, intersecting different scales of intervention, attempting to relate, either for approximation and distance, to the debate released by the international critics, mainly in the end of the XX century and the beginning of the XXI. Starting from a brief theoretical read in based themes, as the Brazilian modernist architecture, tectonics, and the contemporary scenario of international architecture, the study then intersects her production with those themes, additionally to my point of view as office's former employee during 2017. The poetics of the construction are interpreted as the guideline that conduces the analysis of Juaçaba's design methods, and possibly frame her production in contemporary international architecture. Therefore, the thesis glimpses to contribute on any scale to the study of a young architect's work, still not profusily published but very relevant in the architecture's present scenario.
