Cidades inteligentes e inovadoras: uma proposta para o desenvolvimento territorial

Abstract

The smart cities are driven by the challenge of increasing urbanization and the promotion of globalization around the world. In this way, local public managers are forced to find solutions aimed at facing the challenges of cities. And projects from the standpoint of smart cities emerge as a new way of developing the territories verified from innovative practices in the provision of public services, using Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) to solve problems and improve urban living conditions. The perceptions around the theme of smart cities have favored the territorial development to promote better quality of life and territorial governance with intelligent urban services. Therefore, the present article aims to contribute to the theoretical discussion around the theme of smart cities, associating the concept of territorial development that relates both, allow articulating solutions to promote the economic, social and environmental progress of urban territories.
