Suburbios e (sub)urbanos : o mal estar da periferia ou a mistificação dos conceitos

Abstract

Due to the fast transformations of urban forms and processes, all the urbanistic conceptual framework is in deep re-evaluation. The same is occurring with the concept of "urban periphery" which is especially used with over-banality. What are we talking about when we talk about suburbs ... (?), that is the question of this paper. The multidisciplinary analysis, the common sense critic, the crossing study of examples and contexts, are useful strategies to answer this question. We hope that the way we put the question helps to find a more clear answer.
