"A Relação Pedagógica e os Seus Efeitos na Aprendizagem dos Alunos"

Abstract

The following report was written for the course unit, Professional Internship, integrated on the second year of the study plan for Secondary Education in the Teaching of Physical Education in Basic and Secondary Stages at the Faculty of Sport of the University of Porto. The course unit includes two components, the practice of supervised teaching at a cooperating school, and a written report of the internship with its own respective defence. The teaching practices were done during a regular school year, with the assistance of a cooperating teacher from the target school and a teacher from the Faculty of Sport supervising the whole process, and a core internship group consisting of three interns. The internship report reflects the challenging and demanding experience of an intern-student within the school community and in a practical context which contributed to my personal and professional development. The document showcases the experiences and activities developed during the internship, melding theory with practice, relying on the process of reflection to identify adversities in the process of teaching and aiding in decision making regarding strategies to implement in order to surpass them. The planning was made in a methodical and careful fashion considering variables present during classes, as well as each characteristic and capability of each student. During this school year I was given the opportunity to plan and lecture classes to two classes (one class belonging to the resident tenth years and the shared class of the sixth years of schooling). I have participated in meetings of the disciplinary committee for Physical Education and the student council (for the residents). On the scope of experiences lived throughout this year, I highlight the entire process with the resident class and the daily living in context of internship as the main acquired experience. To finish, an action research study was performed with the main goal being to analyse the impact that the pedagogic relationship had on the students. Results indicate that the development of a good pedagogic relationship positively influences students learning. On a more personal dimension this year was rich in learning and character building and represents a remarkable period in my life.
