O impacto do alojamento local na requalificação do edificado do Porto

Abstract

The progressive degradation of historical tissues associated with the aging of the population, the precariousness of the housing stock and the lack of economic activities that led to the emigration of the population, consequently resulting in the desertification of the center, increased the need to promote urban rehabilitation in response to physical, economic, social and environmental problems that cities faced. Porto has witnessed a considerable growth in tourism in recent years, as a result of a combination of several factors, among them: the revaluation and rehabilitation movement of the historic center, the diversification of cultural offerings, the growing interest of visitors in heritage and the looking for animation. Associated with this growth and diversification of tourism, driven by low-cost airlines and new technologies, comes local accommodation, which consists of short-term rental of housing for tourism purposes. Thus, emerge an interest in studying the impact of local accommodation in the city of Porto, namely its influence on the requalification of the bourgeois house, analyzing the formal, functional and constructive transformations of the selected cases.
