Abstract:	Starting from a personal interest in understanding the way theme parks are thought, built, and manipulated, this master thesis has the aim to clarify and let know this architectural side that seizes to entertain. Recognizing the historical path, and assuming Disneyland and Portugal dos Pequenitos has case studies, Once Upon a Time... The role of architecture in Disneyland and Portugal dos Pequenitos presents a careful and incisive investigation, searching for similarities and differences between them. Two structures that in time are close but, apparently, ideologically apart. Aiming to dismantle the theme park into several pieces, as if it were a puzzle, identifying their different components and recognizing their founding rules, from History to Intersection has a mission: to find the starting point.
Description:	Partindo de um interesse pessoal por compreender o modo como as estruturas dos parques temáticos são pensadas, construídas e manipuladas, a presente dissertação tem como objetivo elucidar e dar a conhecer esta faceta da arquitetura enquanto motor vital do espaço de entretenimento. Reconhecendo o fio condutor histórico, e assumindo Disneyland e Portugal dos Pequenitos como casos de estudo, Era uma vez... O papel da Arquitetura em Disneyland e do Portugal dos Pequenitos apresenta um estudo atento e incisivo, que procura perceber as proximidades e divergências entre estes projetos. Duas estruturas temporalmente próximas, mas aparentemente distantes em termos ideológicos. Desmontando o parque temático por partes, como se de um puzzle se tratasse, identificando os seus diferentes constituintes e reconhecendo as suas regras basilares, da História à Interseção, a missão é encontrar o ponto de partida.
