Memória em Diálogo: Intervenção Arquitectónica no Solar da Agrela

Abstract

The present exploration of theoretical and practical nature is based on the reinterpretation of an architectural object, representing "an interesting modality of Portuguese architecture, both for its character and its identity": Solar da Agrela, Ponte da Barca (Minho). Throughout a path composed by 4 moments - Coordinates, Encounter, Transformation, From Kintsugi - a discursive logic is conceived based on theories of the architectural sphere, in the ambulation and observation of the solar, which are closely related and relatable with the project drawings, illustrating the practical dimension of this investigation. Thus, a thought is developed around an old noble rural structure and its relationship with the architectural and social domain, asking about its role in contemporary times. Multiple mental constructions are called for, seeking to identify and formalize a set of synergies capable of guiding the process of formalizing a proposal for the place and, consequently, motivating the construction of a living scenario, strengthening the individual/collective memory of the minhotos. The last part of the dissertation culminates in the design of an architectural synthesis project, reflecting the new needs of local inhabitants. In this way, the final result becomes a cumulative solution of a theoretical-practical investigation that justifies the current relevance of reusing the architecture of the past, proving that its architectural memory can contribute to intercommunity ties, stimulating a continuous dialogue between inhabitants and travelers.
