O Tempo na Arquitectura: contributo para um manual de adaptação climática. Projeto de habitação bioclimática na cidade do Porto

Abstract

We live in a time when the environmental debate is a widespread concern; where construction is a practice in question by the ecological footprint it practices; where health has gained a priority never seen before. However, at the same time, people in Portugal still die in the cold. This dissertation makes a reflection on the developments of bioclimatic architecture and experiences, through the passive use of solar energy as solutions to the problem of thermal comfort. The main goal is to reinforce the bioclimatic discourse in architecture, in order to respond mainly to local needs. More than a discourse, the relationship between architecture and climate is an architectural stance that attenuates, both ecologically and economically, the energy needs of buildings. This dissertation is essentially a contribution to a manual of climate adaptation addressed to the architect, the architecture student and the inhabitant. Written by one who is concerned with the comfort conditions of homes in which we live. It is intended in this study to develop an architectural approach on a topic that is so often understood as a specialty. More than a thermal project, this work wants to be an architectural project, with no tables to fill, nor values determined to achieve. Through a series of principles, we seek to explore architectural freedom in order to improve the thermal comfort of a dwelling. Ensuring a global and national context, this study offers the scientific knowledge useful to the design of the architectural project, based on authors who deal technically on the subject and with the built references that reveal the effectiveness of the system.
