Crescimento profissional de um professor-estagiário: À procura de maximizar a aprendizagem dos alunos

Abstract

The Professional Internship is part of the study plan for the 2nd year of the Master's Degree in Physical Education Teaching in Basic and Secondary Education at the Faculty of Sports of the University of Porto, aims to provide the trainee student with a real experience in Physical Education teaching in schools, as it is accompanied by two specialized professionals. A cooperative teacher at the school level and the faculty advisor. It is in this confrontation that all the knowledge acquired over the years, both at the Faculty and at the club as a coach and athlete, will be put to the test. This document seeks to report in a reliable way the process of evolution of the teacher, carried out throughout the school year, where he was responsible for a resident class, consequently, for the decisions related to planning, conducting and evaluating teaching, as well as a shared class with the rest of the internship group and the cooperating teacher. Throughout the professional internship, the teacher was faced with several constraints, from the students' low level of physical fitness to their indiscipline and lack of motivation, as well as the attitude they should adopt towards their students, always with the intention of maximize their learning and their involvement in the classroom. Thus, the report is organized into five chapters. The first chapter "Introduction" describes the purpose, objective and structure of the document. The second chapter "my path" characterizes the trainee teacher as a person and his relationship with sport and physical education, reporting all the experiences and learning that influenced the professional choice and for me the expectations and insecurities for the professional internship. The third chapter "Framework for Professional Practice" portrays the professional internship at an institutional, legal and functional level, also offering an analysis of the context where the practice of the trainee teacher took place, as well as a characterization of the importance and influence that the supervising teacher, the cooperating teacher, the internship nucleus, and students registered throughout the professional internship. The fourth chapter "Realization of Professional Practice" covers the three fundamental areas of teacher achievement. Area 1, "Organization and Management of Teaching and Learning", includes the entire process related to planning, carrying out the practice and the entire evaluation XXII process. Area 2 covers all moments of "Participation in School and Relationship with the Community". In area 3 the research study is presented, called "Analysis of the evolution of performance and participation in volleyball according to the sex of the students: effects of the application of the Sport Education Model and the Teaching of Games for Understanding". The fifth chapter, "Conclusions and Perspectives for the Future", presents the final balance of the internship year, with all the learning and transformations achieved and, still, ambitions for the future. This professional internship proved to be an atypical year, as it was marked by a different situation, unfortunately the pandemic Covid-19 changed the functioning of schools in Portugal, forcing the adoption of distance learning, in area 1 the title "Context Atypical: Challenges and achievements of distance learning", addresses the difficulties and the work developed in a different context with different circumstances. Finally, this step brought the opportunity to realize the dream of teaching and encourage the sharing of knowledge between teacher-students.
