Da memória à construção do presente: Projeto para uma casa refúgio em contexto rural

Abstract

The present work developed within the framework of this master thesis consists in a project that aims to rehabilitate a small rural house inserted in a time and space corresponding to the ends of the 19th century. The project seeks to build a valid and congruent response to a study, advocated a priori, based on an analytical and interpretative basis centered on the region, the house, but also, subsequently, on new constraints that also based the definition of the intervention methodology adopted. In the same way the work seeks to reflect, and simultaneously explore, a brief theoretical investigation and analysis carried out on the genesis of these popular manifestations, under which the object of study fits. The work process seeks to reflect on a narrative, a set of hypotheses that can best constitute the balanced symbiosis between a set of singular characteristics that shape the imaginary and the memory of the house, necessarily reconciling them with the new program and standards of comfort that a building of this nature currently demands. In short, it is therefore the essential point of the work to confer and adapt a building displaced in time, reflecting characteristics and ways of inhabiting its own, to the new needs of the contemporary dwelling, giving it a renewed life.
