| Abstract: | In this final thesis, using my grandparents' house as a study case, I intend to address the problematic of architectural intervention in pre-existences, in the rural context, comprehend what surrounds me, how to rehabilitate and especially how to respect and honor the typical popular architecture from the region of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro in Portugal, through the presentation of a final project in the village of Mazouco. This thesis is presented in four main chapters which are subdivided into common themes that are important to explore. A first geographical and historical Contextualization of Freixo de Espada à Cinta, the town which Mazouco and four other villages "depend on", followed by an Approach to the village of Mazouco, analyzing its popular architecture and its present problems, then moving on to a Reflection on the role of the ruins and how to intervene in them, concluding my speech with the Intervention, where I present the old and the new; the present state of my grandparents' home and the metamorphosis of the study case, the project I called Casa Ermo. |
| Description: | Nesta prova final, recorrendo à casa dos meus avós como caso de estudo, pretendo debruçar-me sobre a problemática da intervenção arquitectónica em pré-existências, num contexto rural, compreender o que me rodeia, como reabilitar e principalmente como respeitar e homenagear a Arquitectura popular transmontana através da apresentação de um projecto final na aldeia de Mazouco. Apresentada em quatro capítulos principais, estes subdividem-se em temáticas comuns importantes de explorar. Uma primeira Contextualização geográfica e histórica de Freixo de Espada à Cinta, a vila à qual Mazouco e outras quatro aldeias "dependem", seguida de uma Aproximação à aldeia de Mazouco, analisando a sua arquitectura popular e os seus problemas quotidianos, passando depois para uma Reflexão sobre o papel da ruína e como intervir na mesma, finalizando o meu discurso com a Intervenção, onde apresento o antigo e o novo: o estado actual da casa dos meus avós e a metamorfosis do objecto de estudo, o projecto que intitulei Casa Ermo. |
