| Abstract: | The present thesis studies the university student residence spaces from its concept and shape. This concept will be given by the study of the Theory of The Pattern Language (1980) from the author Christopher Alexander, and its structure under the study of residence spatiality in the case of University of Oregon. The object of this work is to rediscover how through the residence an inexorable relationship is created within the concepts of architecture, between the city and the university in a cultural and historical link. Therefore, the research will be directed under these three scales: city, university and residence, in several cases of analysis, where it will be also evident the concept and shape in a specific time, allowing in that way the review of their own languages. In the first part of the study, the main subject of the thesis will be developed. The second part will be given an historical look upon the constant and imminent relationship of the residence and university and urban planning. In a third instance, we present the study of residence as an illustration of university spatiality and the city; under this view we analyze the being that inhabits it and the relationships that are developed under the trinomial city, university and residence. The fourth part of the study is centered on the analysis of the concept: the Theory of The Pattern Language, presenting in the analysis of the three works that contain it, The Timeless Way of Building, A Pattern Language and Urbanism and Participation and also on the form: that unravels with the case of the University of Oregon, under it, the scope and limitations of the theory are studied in its corresponding architectural practice. In the fifth part, it is intended to deepen into the relationships of the trinomial, concretized through the study of four specific cases in different spatialities: Caracas, Córdoba, Paris and Aveiro. Finally, it is possible to conclude on the theme Una revisión de la teoría de los patrones en el concepto y la forma arquitectónica. La construcción de un lenguaje de la residencia universitaria. of spatiality of the residence under a proper posture and the role of the architect. Each position and each example case presented, allow us to recognize and value the space of student housing not only in university context, but also in social context. |
| Description: | El presente trabajo estudia la espacialidad de la residencia estudiantil universitaria desde su concepto y su forma. El concepto vendrá dado por el estudio de la Teoría del lenguaje de los patrones (1980) del autor Christopher Alexander, y su forma bajo el estudio de la espacialidad de la residencia en el caso de la Universidad de Oregón. La intención es redescubrir como a través de la residencia se crea la relación inexorable en los contextos de la arquitectura; entre ciudad y universidad en un enlace histórico y actual. Por lo tanto se dirigirá la mirada bajo estas tres escalas: ciudad, universidad y residencia en diversos casos de estudio donde también se evidenciará el reflejo de un concepto y una forma en un tiempo específico, permitiendo así la revisión de sus propios lenguajes. En la primera parte del trabajo, se desarrolla el tema que guiará la tesis. En la segunda parte se otorgará una mirada histórica sobre la relación constante e inminente de la residencia en la planificación universitaria y urbana. En una tercera instancia se presenta el estudio de la residencia como ilustración de la espacialidad universitaria y de la ciudad, bajo esta mirada se analiza el ser que la habita y las relaciones que se desarrollan bajo el trinomio, ciudad, universidad y residencia. En la cuarta parte se presenta el estudio del concepto: la teoría del Lenguaje de patrones, presentado en el análisis de las tres obras que la contienen, El modo intemporal de construir, Un Lenguaje de Patrones y Urbanismo y participación y sobre la forma, la cual se desenlaza con el caso de la Universidad de Oregón, bajo ella se estudian los alcances y las limitaciones de la teoría en su correspondiente práctica arquitectónica. En la quinta parte se pretende profundizar sobre las relaciones del trinomio, concretizado a través del estudio de cuatro casos específicos en espacialidades diferentes: Caracas, Córdoba, Paris y Aveiro. La construcción de un lenguaje de la residencia universitaria.|finalizar, se permite concluir sobre el tema de la espacialidad de la residencia bajo una postura propia y del papel del arquitecto. Cada postura, y cada caso ejemplar que se presentan permiten reconocer y valorizar el espacio del habitar estudiantil no solo universitario sino social. |
