Arquitectura, ciência e museografia - reflexão a partir da experiência na Galeria da Biodiversidade dos Museus da UP

Abstract

The present work is about the Hall of Biodiversity installed at Casa Andresen in Porto, a museological unit integrated in the Museum of Natural History and Science of the University of Porto. As a result of a direct participation in a traineeship, this report presents the project and monitors the process from its origin to its conclusion and opening to the public. The pertinence of this study resides in the opportunity to document and communicate a peculiar case in the current panorama of museography involving science, architecture and design. Such an opportunity is reinforced, upstream, by the direct and privileged experience of the rapporteur and, downstream, by the contribution he can make to the motivation, understanding and achievement of similar or other projects within the academic and professional spheres and in the fields in which he operates. Revisiting some of the ideas that revolve around the museum and in particular the concept of Total Museology that supports the case under study, we developed a visit that describes and documents the project's journey in time and space, considering its main phases, rehabilitation of the House and the installation of the Gallery. In this sense, we approach the contexts, the motivations, the ideas, the operations, the problems and the solutions that gave body, in a new paradigm, to this museological unit of the University of Porto.
