Habitat Evolutivo: Estratégia de intervenção para as "ilhas" do Porto

Abstract

This dissertation is based on a strategic proposal of intervention in the "ilhas" of Oporto, elaborated by the author of this work. We are not looking for a model so much as a matrix of problems and opportunities that allow us to structure a response consistent with the territory and of a systematic and reproducible character. From the possible approaches, it is proposed to explore the universe of incremental strategies, as a way to promote economically sustainable interventions, with gradually assumed costs, quick and easy intervention, transforming what today is assumed as an expense into an investment. The aim is to study whether such approaches increase the chances for homeowners to regain their assets, while Porto solves two of its most worrying problems, namely the lack of affordable housing solutions for various segments of society and dramatic conditions in which one lives on the islands. Methodologically, we will resort to the study of paradigmatic cases of this type of strategies (internationally, both theoretical and practical), but also of projects under development for the "ilhas" of Oporto - among them, one produced by the author of this dissertation, expressly for this work.: the "ilha do Tiço", in the parish of Campanhã. With the use of a specific case we intend to rethink how the adaptation of the concept of evolutionary housing in Portugal and from it question if it can diversify the architectural solutions, to include a larger number of owners and tenants.
