Viagem ao princípio do mundo

Abstract

Journey to the beginning of the world stems from the interest of revisiting my space experiences1 as a child living in a larger home - the geographical place where the houses are located - and the three dwellings contained therein, integrating a fourth house that constitutes the first project, and therefore, the first laboratory of this trip that intends to trigger new ones. I try to see this final moment as an opportunity to verify the distance reached in the analysis of the addresses beyond memory, as well as the discernment of their implication in my journey and the way the most present themes in my reflection are related to the experiences of dwell. Believing, like Juhani Pallasmaa, that "(...) dwelling is the basic way of relating to the world."2, "(...) a symbolic act that imperceptibly organizes the entire world of the inhabitant"3, I focus my thinking on living to reflect on the body's first contact with space and how it affects the organization of each one in their place. The dissertation is the house itself, for accumulating the most significant experiences. This house-being4 is a collection of the most concrete and diffuse places that welcomed the actions of the inhabitant. During the trip I try to discern the baggage that accompanies me to the exercise of architecture, and unleash a release of thought images about the houses that announces a departure: "(...) the being who"enters his shell" prepares "an exit".
