Da utilidade do contexto rural na contemporaneidade: As hipóteses de reconversão e reinterpretação da casa do Capela

Abstract

The lack of meaning rooted on an increasingly absent identity, which nowadays helps to explain Vilarinho's place and much of what is generally experienced in a rural context throughout the portuguese land, represents the restlessness that served as a starting point for the making of this dissertation despite its undeniable heritage value that is assured by the pre-existences' historic dimension. Vilarinho de Baixo, on the Póvoa de Lanhoso county, in Braga, it's a place of personal reference perhaps by its historic testimonials, which praise its architecture pronouncedly popular and reflect the memory of time, or by the preservation of its essence, evident in the people and traditions that define the land, but mostly by the underlined emotional and familiar connection. For that matter, the object of study for this investigation - a casa do Capela - is the first name of a project proposal which arises as a popular housing that should be preserved, as should its memory, but also intends to serve as an example, through a reinterpretation of its design, and motivate the return to a rural scene which should be intertwined with a contemporary approach to the architectural exercise.
