| Abstract: | This work has started from a real proposal for the refurbishment of an old residential and commercial building, located at Viseu's historic centre. The building and its location are analysed, and its particularities identified in the light of the history of its location, and regarding its role as a driver of city growing, and as an heritage repository. It is precisely within this historic relevance that the study tries to find out the way for a deeper approach of the concepts of heritage, identity, memory, and conservation. The subject of the gradual degradation of urban heritage, and real-estate character-spoiling (irresponsible) investment is also partially touched by standing for the values that are inherent to the built heritage. Thus, the thesis aims to tackle a range of matters around intervention, and in particular rehabilitation and restoration, starting from a small architectural project located at a reference heritage city centre, to get a more comprehensive analysis of the heritage intervention concept. |
| Description: | Este trabalho, parte de uma proposta concreta para a realização de um projeto de reabilitação de um edifício antigo de habitação e comércio, no centro histórico de Viseu. Analisa-se o lugar e o edifício, identificando-se as suas especificidades à luz da história do local em que se insere, enquanto núcleo fundamental de crescimento da urbe e seu inigualável repositório patrimonial. Aliás, é nesta relevância histórica que o trabalho tenta procurar o ponto de partida para um aprofundamento dos conceitos de património, identidade, memória e conservação. O tema da progressiva degradação do património urbano e do investimento imobiliário descaraterizador (irresponsável), é tocado de forma parcial, na defesa dos valores inerentes ao edificado patrimonial. O trabalho tenta, pois, abordar um conjunto de temáticas em torno da intervenção, e em particular da reabilitação e restauro, partindo de um pequeno projeto localizado num centro patrimonial de referência para uma abordagem mais abrangente sobre o tema da intervenção em património. |
