Title: Resposta Fisiológica e Atenção Seletiva em Bombeiros Recrutas: Estudo-Piloto
Issue Date: 2019
Abstract: The firefighting job highly exposes individuals, endangering their life's. The aim of this study was to evaluate the physical work load in three groups (n=34) of future firemen with different tasks simulated during the training, through the monitoring of the Heart Rate (HR). In addition, this study intended to understand the influence of the type of task performed in the selective attention and in the scale of subjective effort. The physiologic response was evaluated using Equivital EQ02 monitoring device. Stroop Test was used before and after the tasks to evaluate selective attention alterations. The subjective effort was evaluated using the Borg Scale. The results revealed the existence of two groups with higher physical loads and higher significant selective attention alterations. The levels of anxiety and the physical demands associated with the tasks performed may explain the results obtained. The improvement of the training plans could allow a better adaptation of the future firefighters to the training.
