Praça de Feira - Proposta de intervenção no Mercado Silva Araújo

Abstract

If the public space is of decisive importance in sewing an urban fabric, overlapping a space for marketing in this context results in an opportunity for reflection that reveals a particular relevance in the current disciplinary context. The Mercado Silva Araújo has these points as core and, therefore, justification of an intention to intervene. Its state of physical degradation and its weak notability as an equipment in the fabric of Vila das Aves are the ignition for this work. The startup inevitably passes through the role of the Market and what characterizes it, not only in the time when this work sees it, but it is also important to realize the inheritance that made it what it is today. This demand will serve as a pretext to address three more abstract topics that will inform the drawing that is pursued. The program in question - a space for commercial exchange - is, of course, a reason for inquiry, followed by the condition in which this intervention is made - on an existing building - and, finally, the need for that its original program only manifests itself in full one day a week. All these themes are requested by the object of study and the method has gone through to dissect them more deeply, using concrete examples as support of the ideas enunciated. Despite the importance of these issues, the goal has always been to arrive at a concrete design, which arises in the final moment. More than an execution project, the presented drawings should act as a declaration of intentions that are born from the ideas presented and analyzed throughout the work.
