O Amor em Copilco: uma leitura arquitectónica da vida contemporânea na Cidade do México

Abstract

O Amor em Copilco presents a phenomenological reading of the formation and procedure of the social space in Mexico City. With experimentation as a starting point, the space of public interaction shall be interpreted through the principals of a diverse yet interconnected group of authors, whose work varies between architecture and urban image, mexican and post-colonial sociology, theory of language and philosophy of love. This theoretical contextualization focuses its analysis on the urban language and identity of Mexico City. The proposition of reflection about such social space, area of inter-subjective contact, shall lead to the association between the notions of public space and intimate space. Used as a case study, this association has a surprising manifestation in Copilco, where not only it becomes clear the public space is handled through a peculiar appropriation, it also reveals the context that sociologically justifies it. This theoretical dissertation seeks out to understand and express a foreign urban and socio-cultural reality, based on the relative semiotics of language to intersect parallel epistemologies.
