| Abstract: | Joaquim Bento Lousan: anonymity in architecture. Contrary to painting, buildings are not signed in the corner. It is, therefore, difficult to recognize the authorship. The works of Bento Lousan accompany us constantly in the city of Porto, anonymous, without signature. He lives during the golden age of modernism in Portugal. It is attentive to modern architecture throughout the world, having even attended the last CIAM, transporting these ideas to Portuguese architecture. We seek here an approach to the complexity of his work, with references to that time, the difficulties that constantly arise in the practice of architecture, care in the pursuit of perfection, to the smallest details. This compilation of his life and work aims to put an end to that anonymity. |
| Description: | Bento Lousan: o anonimato em arquitectura. Contrariamente à pintura, os edifícios não se assinam no canto. É, por isso, difícil reconhecerlhe a autoria. As obras de Bento Lousan acompanham-nos constantemente na cidade do Porto, anónimas, sem assinatura. Vive durante a época de ouro do modernismo em Portugal. Mostra-se atento à arquitectura moderna pelo mundo, tendo até assistido ao último CIAM, transportando consigo essas ideias para a arquitectura portuguesa. Procura-se aqui uma aproximação à complexidade do seu trabalho, com referências àquela época, às dificuldades que surgem constantemente na prática da arquitectura, ao cuidado na procura da perfeição, até aos mais pequenos detalhes. Esta compilação da sua vida e obra pretende pôr um fim àquele anonimato. |
